Food

Before Arriving

There are few nearby choices for dinner, especially for late arrivers, so we recommend the following:

FROM THE NORTH: If you traveling from the north on    I-49, consider stopping in Natchitoches for dinner.  There are chain eateries at the exit and finer places in town (6 miles).  Historic Natchitoches is worth a stop anyway.  From Natchitoches you are about 55-minutes from Magnolia Cabin.

FROM THE EAST OR SOUTH:  If you are traveling from the south on I-49 or US 165, or from the east on Hwy 28, stop in Alexandria for dinner, where there is a wide selection of local and chain restaurants.  Alexandria is 15 minutes from Magnolia Cabin.

FROM THE WEST:  If you are traveling from the west on Hwy 63 in Texas, you know there aren't many choices in east Texas.  Drive through to Leesville, La., where there is a decent choice of eateries, better earlier than late.  There are no restaurants between Leesville and Magnolia Cabin.  Leesville is 45 minutes from Magnolia Cabin.

If you arrive without having dinner, Tunk's Cypress Inn is a full restaurant 2 miles east on Hwy 28 and Y-Not Stop is a convenience store 4 miles west on Hwy 28 with a good kitchen for fried catfish, chicken and more.
